Compete for a Cause: the BREAKAWAY

December 7, 2023

Competing for a Cause to Support the Canucks Autism Network.

The Compete for a Cause initiative was created by the Stober Foundation’s Executive Director & Lead Philanthropist, Keith Brewster, to give members of our community the chance to make a significant charitable impact in their communities – and have some fun along the way. Alongside some of his best friends, Keith and his crew of self-described "freak athletes" take on all challengers in random physical and mental challenges. If you beat them, they donate $5,000 to a charity of your choice in your honour. It’s a fun, engaging, personal way of making philanthropy and community crowdfunding accessible.

In our latest instalment of COMPETE FOR A CAUSE, our foundation's Executive Director (Keith) was challenged by "internet sensation" Nick the Goalie in a breakaway challenge in hopes of raising valuable funds for the Canucks Autism Network. Nick, who's amassed tens of millions of views on YouTube, instagram and tik-tok through his goaltending and personality backstopping his various teams in recreation leagues across BC, wanted to test himself against the infamous Sudbury Sniper!

But what Nick didn't know is that Keith never plays fair, and showed up to the challenge with some friends and a couple of former NHL'ers in hopes of breaking his 8 game losing streak! This was by far our most EPIC challenge yet, but don't take our word for it, see for yourself!
